how the Little Mix ‘Black Magic’ Video uses Media Language (15)
The little mix music video Black Magic uses media language a lot. One an example of this is when they all receive their magic powers there are lots of individual close ups of the different little mix members. This is to show how the band have changed since their transformation how they have changed from "nerdy" wearing stereotypically nerdy clothes to becoming popular and desirable by other men. An example of this, is when they say "hey" and start getting the popular kids attention. From then on they are represented as the popular kids this is done through the costumes changing them to look more "cool". Their costumes when they are nerdy are less revealing and baggy, this diverts the attention from the more stereotypical popular characters. Their costumes after their transformation are revealing and very fashionable. This mise-en-scene is used to show how Little Mix have become more desirable and popular.
Another use of Media Language is the fast paced editing. This is seen throughout especially at the beginning of the narrative when they think the popular boy is waving at them in the school corridors. The effect of the fast paced editing relates to the speed of narrative and makes the audience feel more involved as they are part of the real time action.

Another camera angle that used is an over the shoulder shot. An example of this is at the beginning of the video when Little Mix think that the popular boy is waving at them. The effect of this camera angle makes the audience feel as though they are there with Little Mix, behind them.
This is good as a first attempt Josh. 6/15
ReplyDeleteFirstly...please make sure all of the text is the same size.
You need to work on your structure and make sure that you finish each paragraph before jumping into the next one.
If you are talking about camera angels...what is your point, evidence and explanation?
If you are going to discuss mise-en-scene, follow the same structure.
You make really good points, but your writing needs much more focus.

ReplyDeleteThis has significantly improved. You sat with me to work through it, but you were thinking much more about your structure and the effect.
Remember this for next time!
